The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is a hot topic since its unveiling. Ford revealed that EV F-150 Lightning reservation sales have surpassed 120k in just two months since its release. Even more remarkable is that nearly three-quarters of reservation holders do not currently own Blue Oval cars, proving that the EV pickup has attracted new buyers. Potential buyers also showed a lot of interest in the 2022 Ford Maverick. It has already racked up 80,000 reservations within a matter of weeks.
It’s evident that Ford’s build-to-order strategy is working, at least for new products. Production of the electric pickup will begin at the new Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, with deliveries starting in the spring of 2022. However, it’s unclear how many Lightnings Ford will build for the 2022 model year, as CEO Jim Farley recently admitted that production of the electric pickup will be limited but did not specify just how limited it might be.
