Jim Farley, Ford CEO, revealed that Ford had received a staggering 200,000 F-150 Lightning reservation requests in the past months. This demand far exceeded Ford’s expectations and led Ford to double its production plans for the pickup . As Mike Levine, Ford North America Product Communications director, recently announced via Twitter, 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning reservations are now closed.
“As we prepare for making history together, we have closed reservations so that we can begin accepting orders,” Ford’s F-150 Lightning reservation webpage now says. “Sign up for updates and get exciting news on the electric revolution. We can’t wait to get you behind the wheel of an F-150 Lightning truck.”
Farley believes that orders will be converted by a large number of Lightning reservation holders, around 80 percent. This is significantly higher than the 66% of 2020 Ford Bronco reservation owners who placed orders for an SUV.
